PRESIDENT'S
WELCOME
Welcome
My
name is Neil Griffin, and I am the elected President
of ACRIA Inc.
The
Australasian Court Reporting Industry Association
(ACRIA) Inc. was established in May 2005 by a group
of private contractors and Government agencies involved
in the production and delivery of court recording,
reporting and transcription services in Australia
and New Zealand.
ACRIA's
goal is to provide leadership and direction to the
court reporting industry by promoting and supporting
exemplary professional standards for court reporting
and transcription services in Australia, and its chief
objectives are:
- To
lead the effort to develop and promote professional
industry service standards by improving the quality
of services provided by the court reporting industry
in Australia and to protect industry integrity by
creating industry codes of practice;
- To
be a representative and advocate for the court reporting
industry by promoting an industry profile and an understanding
of the responsibilities, functions and needs of the
industry to both government and non-government sectors
throughout Australia; and
- To
provide professional development, training and accreditation
opportunities for the Australian court reporting industry
through publications, training, meetings and other
activities.
In
this our establishment year, we have focused on determining
a strategic outlook and the development of a strategic
plan that will enable us to achieve our goal through
these objectives. Our core group is enthusiastic,
and driven by the ever-diminishing skills shortages
that are emerging in many of today's workforces. To
that extent, we believe that ACRIA Inc. and our goal
and objectives are relevant to employees, employers,
service providers and service users alike.
